The Famous Star Hotel in Moffat which dates from the late 1700’s, found its fame for being the world’s narrowest hotel as mentioned in the Guinness book of records. At only 20ft wide and 162ft long The Famous Star Hotel may be narrow but it has a BIG personality.
Situated in the centre of Moffat a beautiful southern Scottish town near the Southern Upland Way. Only 2 miles from junction 15 of the M74 & only a short distance from the cities of Edinburgh & Glasgow, The Famous Star Hotel in Moffat is the perfect base for a holiday. There is much to do and explore in the area, including an excellent park, a first rate 18 hole golf course, great fishing, fantastic walks and a well equipped gym.
Moffat has been awarded ‘Dark Sky Status’ in accordance with the International Dark Sky Association, and is the first town to achieve this award in the UK. Free parking is available throughout the town with 2 large car parks, one of which is directly across from the Famous Star. Moffat is home to its own small Museum with fantastic insight to Moffats wonderful history. Moffat also has many quirky shops including The world Famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the legendary Singing Potter, as well as Well Street, a unique shopping experience.
